These are a few of the many hats that I wear throughout the day.

Full time Assistant Professor! I have had the pleasure of being a wife for over 30 years to a wonderful man, NYPD Sergeant for over 30 years. I am also a mother of an amazing young woman (labor and delivery RN) who is married and moved to Texas with her husband and has given me beautiful twin grand babies (a boy and a girl). I am also the mother to a wonderful son (who is a NYPD Detective) who is married and just recently gave me a healthy beautiful grandson as well as a beautiful 2 year old grand daughter.  I have truly been blessed!

Welcome to my website, I am new to this genre but excited to learn and grow as an educator.  As a special educator for 30 years, I believe I think a little differently and  am always looking for ways to adapt materials to fit the needs of my students. Throughout my experience as an early intervention teacher for 25 years, an ABA teacher for over 10 years and the Director of a home-based ABA program for 5 years I learned many strategies and techniques, many of them can be used with infants or 4th graders. For the last nine years as a  college Professor,  I have taught students who are at different levels in their path to teacher certification. Every year I teach these students about children with disabilities from birth through 6th  grade and strategies to engage them in their learning process.  I demonstrate for them using activities their students would typically be engaged in and it helps them to see strategies and adaptations as they are interacting with the materials, whether it is shaving cream writing or are you smarter than a fifth grader activity. I ask my students to do things that are outside of their comfort zone and so I have to ask the same of myself.   I continue to love working with my early intervention teachers, children and families.   I have learned just as many new skills in the last 10 years as I did in the 20 years before and so I wanted to try new challenges and then share them.  As you can see by the  creative and technology projects, I still make many teacher made materials to show my students.  Sometimes I see something and an idea comes to me, other times I see something on a website (such as pinterest!) and I then make adaptations to it to fit the needs of children with disabilities.  I believe in possibilities, knowledege, sharing, education, children, wonder, and fairies, not necessarily in that order! Please share this journey with me, I love to have company. Welcome to my world!
